The actress - who was single when she became pregnant - keeps his lips tight about his identity. And she has a good reason for that!

Mindy Kaling tells in The New York Times that she consciously chooses to keep the identity of Katherine's father a secret.

"My feeling is that until I can talk to my daughter about it, I'm not going to discuss it with anyone else," says the actress.

"I think that people are often surprised that someone like me, who is so open on social media and writes things that seem to be drawn from life, likes to keep things like that private."

So it will be a while before we find out the identity of the father - if Kaling ever makes it public. Katherine is only two years old and far too young to understand such things.

For now, mother and daughter are enjoying each other to the full. "I am very impatient, and a baby requires a certain amount of patience that I was worried about beforehand," says Kaling.

"But they tell you that that little creature will look like you and that it is so sweet and cute, that you are not as impatient as you would be with a stranger or with someone who works for you."
